The Buick Wildcat – Photo Comparison
Buick has touted their 2010 concept Buick Wildcat as “the integral part of Buick’s renaissance plan, an excellent selling, high profit model in the Buick lineup.” But how does it compare to the original designs? Not very well in the the opinions of classic car lovers. With today’s world of fuel-efficiency and aerodynamics, purchasing a right-angled car with a V8 engine is far from responsible car shopping. However, back in 1954 (or even ’64) you were sure to catch a glimpse of interest as you tore up the highway in a Wildcat or Wildcat II convertible.

The Wildcat II circa 1954 – Who needs side view mirrors? You have a giant bumper and police search light!
How about a tricked out 1967 Wildcat? Can’t go wrong with an American Flag/Bald Eagle vanity plate.

The 1970 Buick design is something you’ve seen parked outside your grandparent’s house (or, at least in their neighborhood).

The Wildcat 2010 Concept from Buick – with hints of a T-Top?

Maybe the 2010 Wildcat Sedan? Only time will tell.

GM has the “comeback” car in this Wildcat. Can’t wait for it to hit the showroom! I was waiting for the Riviera, however, this car will make me buy General Motors now. No more boring Buicks-the 2010′s are HOT!
nice pictures
Buick Will Rule!!!!
Take a look at, and drive for example a well cared for 2005 Park Avenue, you will see Buick makes the finest cars at any price!
Love the new lines of the 2010 Lacrosse. The new Buicks of the next few years will make me stay with GM. They have come late to the party but not too late. I hope these new models turn things around. The 2010 Lacrosse will be the one I buy next year.
Who was the driver of the 2010 Buick Wildcat I saw in Chicago’s northern suburbs during this past summer? It is a dominant looking vehicle. So who on the north side of Chicago has the “inside track” to such an exclusive vehicle…?
These 2010 Buicks look fantastic…,finally! The Wildcat would make me come back to G.M. I’m driving Dodge vehicles now, but the concept Wildcat would probably bring me back. I’ve had Riv’s and LeSabre’s in the 80′s. good job
Fantastic creation – art on wheels! Buick, please give us the Wildcat (with split rear window as an option).

I own a 1967 Buick Custom Wildcat which I ordered in May 1967 fairly fully equipped along with A/C. Any good sources for body panels such as rear quarter panels? Thanks!
I’m a proud owner of a 1969 Buick Wildcat and very pleased to see that Buick is making a comeback with this fantastic looking car. Damm… I hope I’ll own one some day!
Cheers
Eric
GM: Don’t get wimpy and turn this into a boring automobile like you have in the past! What ever happened to ‘body by fisher’ pride at GM? They’ve come a long way in a short time but it took bankruptcy to wake them up. And, I still don’t totally trust them…look what the did to the Chevy Volt from concept to production.
im need help trying to get part for my wildcat
am i at tha rite place
Just searching for a 4 door picture like I’m fixin to buy. It was parked in the owners back yard so long ago you ought to see all the trees Im gonna have to cut down to get it out.But the car is all there.

I own a 1967 Buick LeSabre 340-4 4Dr. Hardtop has a pretty solid body, but needs some work. Intentions were to restore but strapped for cash now,….so if anyone is interested in such vehicle for a restoration project “it is worth it” needs a harmonic balancer, and the timing set correctly and she will hum. Ny father had a white 64 Wildcat. He bought it new and drove it to California fromthe East coast..Buick and all of GM must be bold(Put fins on Cadillacs again-not JUST A HINT FROM 65!!!)and make Buicks bold, powerful.glamerous and cool.Don’t design by committe or focus group.Look to beauty and power.BUILD THE WILDCAT!Than an Electra!GM will sell tos of them I assure you.P.S I am in my 40′s not eighties.
It’s almost 2012! Where is the Buick Wildcat? Oh! is it he usual GM wash out called the Buick Regal???
First off, while the concept looks OK, that doesn’t evoke memories of the Wildcat, “retro” or otherwise. The ’67 model is probably the quintessential design, the model that oozed “Buick” and screamed of Wildcatness. What’s with that tapered rear window? That looks more like a Riviera to me. And that front grill area is just wrong.
Nextly, GM will let Buick release a truly high-powered Wildcat — a Wildcat that’s true to its muscle-car tradition — the same day that pigs sprout wings and soar with the eagles.
Never gonna happen. GM mismanagement has gone from bad to worse. The first signs, I think, were when they discontinued the Grand National and Turbo Regal models in the late 80′s; I heard that was largely due to whining from Corvette development, not wanting to have an intra-corporation rival. Wotta load of crud. The Regals were sedans, for one thing, and catered to entirely different tastes. The power-plant dynamic was different too.
A company that is forced to do away with iconic brands such as Pontiac and Olds has clearly lost its way.
I get a little tired of auto companies — GM is the worst — trotting out concept cars that will never be built.
